I don the guise of a Word Warrior, hired to help tackle the ever increasing information flows, captured and exchanged in a multitude of formats which form the basis of corporate content.

Once we talked of managing information resources. Now we now talk about accessing and distributing corporate content.

Given the volume and diversity, there is an increased emphasis on ensuring the attribution of appropriate contextual details:
  • words that describe
  • words that tell the history
  • words that try to indicate the substance of the content
Gaining agreement about these words, however, can be a very complex and problematic exercise. For a whole range of reasons, a lot of sensitivity buttons can be hit in the process.

How do we arrange and tag information to satisfy both:
  1. the applicable requirements for corporate accountability, and
  2. the individual preferences of those who compile and maintain the information

To proceed, the Word Warrior must negotiate potentially hostile terrain to reconcile a. and b.
